Alex le lion, Marty le zèbre, Gloria l'hippopotame et Melman la girafe résident au zoo de Central Park, à New York. Ils y ont toujours mené une vie tranquille... jusqu'à maintenant. Quand Marty disparaît, Alex, Gloria et Melman décident de s'échapper du zoo pour partir à sa recherche. Les animaux new-yorkais vont désormais se retrouver confrontés à un univers qu'ils ne connaissent pas : la vie sauvage ! Comme tu vas t'en apercevoir, l'aventure ne commencera qu'une fois les trois amis évadés du jeu, et cela constituera déjà un exploit en soi...
